Come si fa a raccontare ai bambini e alle bambine l’Alzheimer se anche gli adulti, davanti a un loro caro malato, faticano ad affrontarlo? La nonna profuma di cannella e sapone. Un tempo vendeva profumi su un traghetto, viveva in una casa sul mare con il nonno e due cani. Ora tutto questo non c’è più. Restano le storie, che lei racconta alla nipote iniziando sempre con “C’era una volta…”. Ma un giorno la nonna comincia a dimenticare. Prima smette di guidare, poi di andare in bicicletta, e infine deve trasferirsi in una casa di cura. Lì sembra non riconoscere più nessuno. E se è vero che la demenza acquista un’aura di fanciullezza, chi meglio di una bambina, la protagonista di questa fiaba antica e contemporanea insieme, può relazionarsi con la nonna che lentamente è entrata nel tunnel della demenza?
