Nel quadro della Settimana di valorizzazione dei Beni Culturali Ecclesiastici, del Progetto Comunità Educanti dei Beni Culturali Ecclesiastici e del Il Maggio dei Libri 2026, la Biblioteca Generalizia del Centro Studi Storici dei PP. Barnabiti di Roma omaggia San Francesco, protettore d’Italia, nell’ottavo centenario della morte, con la mostra:
“Nostro fratello Francesco: tra frate matita e sorella nuvola. Francesco raccontato a fumetti”
ideata e curata da p. Stefano Gorla (Bibliotecario Generale del Centro Studi Storici PP. Barnabiti) e Paolo Guiducci, con interventi critici ai testi di Brunetto Salvarani e Loris Cantarelli.
La mostra verrà inaugurata in Sala Erba, il 16 maggio alle ore 16.00 alla presenza di p. Stefano Gorla che ne illustrerà il percorso. Il suggestivo excursus su San Francesco prende le mosse dal fumetto italiano del dopoguerra, tra storia, leggenda e fascinazione, come nel caso di Franco Caprioli con “La leggenda della pietra bianca” pubblicato nel il Vittorioso nel 1963 su testi di Eros Belloni.
A incontrarsi in punta di matita con l’esperienza di San Francesco si sono succeduti, con accenti e modalità̀ diverse, Giacinto Gaudenzi – nella fin troppo asciutta La storia d’Italia a fumetti di Enzo Biagi – Francesco Gamba, un giovane ma già abile Gianni De Luca, RenatoFrascelli e i più̀ contemporanei Alberto Azzimonti e Simone Delladio sul periodico Net Magazine.
Con la sua consueta delicatezza nel segno e nei colori, Gino Gavioli sulle pagine de il Giornalino ha tratteggiato poeticamente le vicende di Francesco immergendo il Santo nel creato da lui tanto amato in quanto riflesso di Dio.
Diverse le interpretazioni del Santo, di Luca Salvagno, che ha dedicato al poverello di Assisi più di un’opera.
Francesco è forse il Santo più rappresentato a fumetti, in Italia e nel mondo, con autori della levatura di Dino Battaglia a John Buscema, Altan a Gianni De Luca, Franco Caprioli, Luca Salvagno e Roberto Battestini.
A seguire, alle ore 16, 30, la presentazione di un libro dedicato a Domenico Volpi, il vero direttore de il Vittorioso con la presenza di Cosimo Rodia e Claudia Camicia del Gruppo di servizio per la letteratura giovanile.
