Condannato all’ergastolo nel 2000 per l’omicidio di Dale Pike a Miami, Enrico Forti, detto Chico, è rientrato in Italia il 18 maggio 2024. Continua a dichiararsi innocente e Roberta Bruzzone sostiene che ha tutte le ragioni per farlo. La condanna arriva dopo un’inchiesta che l’Autrice definisce lacunosa, incompleta e controversa.
Questo volume trae spunto dalla consulenza tecnica che ha depositato nel 2012 al governo italiano in cui ha affrontato tutti i punti centrali della vicenda, i suoi lati oscuri e le carenze investigative prima e processuali poi. Dopo avere avuto accesso completo a tutti i documenti dell’inchiesta e del processo e dopo avere analizzato il monumentale fascicolo in maniera approfondita e chirurgica, la criminologa dimostra che le indagini sono state condotte in modo superficiale e che le prove che “inchiodano” Forti sono molto fragili: l’arma del delitto, una calibro 22, non è stata mai trovata, e la scheda telefonica, trovata accanto al cadavere, potrebbe essere stata messa ad hoc in quella posizione da qualcuno che sapeva dell’appuntamento in aeroporto tra Dale Pike e Chico Forti. Un viaggio all’interno di un’inchiesta controversa, che ha portato a una condanna all’ergastolo per Chico Forti ben “al di qua” di ogni ragionevole dubbio.
Dall’introduzione: «Forti continua a dichiararsi innocente e ha tutte le ragioni per farlo nonostante una condanna all’ergastolo che arriva dopo un’inchiesta che possiamo definire, assai generosamente, lacunosa, incompleta e controversa, come avrà modo di verificare il lettore attraverso le pagine di quest’opera e dei vari documenti che vengono messi a sua disposizione. Questa opera è l’unica che tratta il caso Forti dopo aver avuto accesso completo a tutti (tutti!) i documenti dell’inchiesta e del processo e dopo avere analizzato il monumentale fascicolo in maniera approfondita e chirurgica. Il libro trae spunto dalla consulenza tecnica che ho depositato nel 2012 (che venne sottoscritto anche dal giudice Ferdinando Imposimato, che all’epoca era il legale italiano di Forti) al governo italiano in cui ho affrontato tutti i punti centrali della vicenda, i suoi molteplici lati oscuri e le molteplici carenze investigative prima, e processuali poi. Questa è una storia che va studiata approfonditamente per poter fare valutazioni sensate e fondate scientificamente. In questi anni ho letto e visto numerosi contributi sul caso che contenevano errori macroscopici, segno evidente che chi si è cimentato nel valutare il caso l’ha fatto senza la doverosa completezza di informazioni. E. mi si consenta, spesso anche senza un minimo di competenza in ambito scientifico-forense e senza alcuna esperienza sul campo. E questa non è una professione che puoi pensare di svolgere solo leggendo qualche libro qua e là o mettendo insieme informazioni raccogliticce e incomplete pur di strappare qualche like.»
