Un fotolibro che ci invita a osservare il mondo con occhi nuovi, in cui gli scatti della celebre fotografa statunitense immortalano scorci di quotidianità per stimolare il dialogo nella lettura condivisa e sollecitare l’immaginazione.
Due foglie grandi e una foglia piccola. Una mamma con i suoi cuccioli. Perle e perline di varie forme e dimensioni. Due pupazzi di neve, uno alto e uno basso, e due paia di scarpe, di un adulto e di un bambino. Attorno a noi ci sono cose, persone e oggetti simili eppure diversi tra loro e metterli a confronto può diventare un gioco stimolante da fare insieme.
Con la sua proverbiale cura per i dettagli, per la scelta dei soggetti e delle prospettive, questa volta Hoban invita i lettori a soffermarsi sulle somiglianze e sulle differenze concentrandosi sui rapporti di grandezza, e ponendo sollecitazioni visive di tanti tipi.
Le fotografie disposte una di fianco all’altra sono anch’esse in relazione tra di loro, e il criterio con cui vengono accostate non è mai banale o immediato, bensì ricercato e originale. Sta al lettore, adulto o bambino, scoprire il rapporto che si instaura tra di loro, grazie a una lettura attenta e partecipata. Qualche esempio? Sagome di figure umane ritagliate con la carta sono messe accanto alla fotografia di mani vere; oppure l’immagine di un bambino che stringe un bel coniglio bianco è vicina a quella di alcune bambole, di colori differenti, che si abbracciano tra di loro.
Cambia il contesto, cambiano i protagonisti, cambiano le situazioni, ma tra le coppie fotografiche scelte c’è sempre un collegamento logico, un significato che è possibile individuare approcciando il libro con occhi scrupolosi e aperti alla meraviglia.
