Alice Neri, 32 anni, vive a Ravarino con il marito Nicholas e la loro bimba di quattro anni. Lavora presso un’azienda metalmeccanica di Cavezzo.
La sera del 17 novembre 2022 sulla Bassa cade a tratti una pioggia sottile. Alice si reca allo Smart Cafè di Concordia sulla Secchia, dove ha appuntamento con un collega. Rimane al bar fino alle 3:00 circa del mattino, poi saluta il collega e sale sulla sua automobile. A questo punto viene visto avvicinarsi ad Alice e salire nella sua Ford Fiesta. Da quel momento della donna si perdono le traccee il marito non vedendola rincasare ne denuncia la scomparsa.
La sera del 18 novembre un passante nota del fumo nella zona di Fossa di Concordia. I Carabinieri, giunti sul posto, trovano una Ford Fiesta data alle fiamme. Non ci vuole molto a capire che si tratta della vettura di Alice Neri, anche perché il corpo della donna, ormai carbonizzato, viene rinvenuto chiuso nel bagagliaio.
Nel frattempo Gaaloul lascia l’Italia nelle ore successive.
Il libro – un’inchiesta a tutto campo su chi era la vittima e sui suoi ultimi giorni di vita – ricostruisce nei dettagli l’indagine svolta dalla Procura di Modena e la cronaca del processo a Mohamed Gaaloul.
I resti di Alice, rimasti sotto sequestro presso l’Istituto di Medicina Legale di Milano fino a giugno 2025, vengono dissequestrati all’inizio di luglio. Dopo quasi mille giorni, Alice è finalmente potuta ritornare a casa.
