Quando l’Arte scuote le coscienze

Miguel Gomez è un artista di alto profilo, art director di numerosi eventi, nonché direttore del Museo dei pigmenti presso Santa Teresa dei Maschi, a Bari.
Dopo cinque anni, durante i quali ha compiuto nuove ricerche materiche e tecniche, la sua arte è stata nuovamente oggetto di ammirazione nella mostra personale che si è chiusa sabato 10 gennaio 2026.
“CONTEMPORANEA” indica un cammino nei temi salienti del mondo, con una visione sentita e partecipe non solo dei drammi universali ma anche dell’arte in sé, come veicolo comunicativo non mercificabile.
La coerenza di idee e intenti si traduce così in tele di forte impatto emotivo, con richiami letterari e sacri, tele che fungono da interrogativi implacabili, tele che scuotono la coscienza dormiente.
La maternità moderna è caratterizzata dal dolore della perdita, l’infanzia è segnata da nuove forme di prevaricazione e distruzione dell’innocenza. È bene essere consapevoli che tali dinamiche estreme sussistono e Gomez ce le restituisce come un grido inascoltato.
La forza espressiva della mostra deriva da un nuovo modo di strutturare lo spazio sulla tela, uno spazio che appare dilatato da immagini tracciate direttamente col colore, con pennellate nette e giustapposte che formano un’idea figurativa compiuta. Ed è l’idea figurativa che diventa un gancio destro e risuona nell’animo di chi osserva le tele.
Coscienza e segno, dunque, caratterizzano il percorso attuale di Gomez, la coscienza per leggere la realtà senza edulcorarla e il segno per attribuirle una potenza evocativa.
A corredo della mostra è stato edito il catalogo snello ma denso, in linea con la sinteticità concettuale dell’artista.
In chiusura, esprimo la mia affezione a tutte le tele che rappresentano l’infanzia e la maternità, compresa quella dedicata a Luisa Gomez, tributo luminoso e amorevole.
Augurandoci un’apertura prorogata a Bari, CONTEMPORANEA sarà poi nuovamente visitabile la prossima primavera a Martina Franca, presso le stanze nobili del Palazzo Ducale.
