Nur è una bambina allegra e vivace: va a scuola, ama saltare nelle pozzanghere, balla di continuo, ride per niente e spesso si perde nei suoi pensieri. Molti dicono che ha sempre la testa nel suo piccolo mondo e pensano che sia un po’ strana: a volte i bambini ridono dei suoi comportamenti, a volte gli adulti si arrabbiano.
Quando la malinconia finisce per travolgerla e la bambina si fa fin troppo quieta e silenziosa, alle persone intorno a lei inizia a mancare la Nur di prima.
Ma nel momento in cui il grigio sembra aver preso il sopravvento nel cuore e nella mente della piccola protagonista, arriva finalmente un gesto gentile e inaspettato che l’aiuta a ritrovarsi e a uscire dalla sua “bolla scura”.
Il testo semplice e ritmato di Ruillier e i disegni minimalisti di Carrier, coppia artistica amatissima in Francia, giocano con colori e spazi, lasciando ampio respiro alle emozioni dei lettori. Pagina dopo pagina, la tristezza di Nur, rappresentata da una macchia di colore grigio, si espande sempre più, ma dopo il tocco “magico” ed empatico di un amico, la bambina si sente finalmente più leggera e felice.
Il tratto essenziale e delicato di Isabelle Carrier, che spesso ha raccontato la diversità e la resilienza nei suoi albi illustrati parla ai lettori con chiarezza e sensibilità e riesce a dare voce sia alle emozioni di Nur sia a quelle degli adulti che la circondano, che si preoccupano per lei nel momento in cui la vedono diventare sempre più silenziosa e apatica.
Le dolcissime tavole finali, poi, sono un tenero omaggio all’amicizia e a quegli atti di gentilezza che fanno la differenza.
