Cinquantadue sono le settimane in un anno. Cinquantadue sono i rapidi racconti selezionati abbinati ad altrettanti dipinti e disegni, virati in bianco e nero per non distrarre. In questo mondo verboso all’eccesso, ridondante in tutti i campi, nella scrittura, nella pittura, nel teatro, nella vita… ecco finalmente un poco di sintesi planare con leggerezza su temi del nostro tempo, sul sociale, sull’amore, sull’introspezione. Con leggerezza, che non è superficialità, perché il racconto è questo: essenzialità, insegna a togliere. Il racconto è zen.
Dalla Prefazione: Il racconto e l’evoluzione dell’antica “novella”, per esempio quelle de Le mille e una notte o del Decameron del Boccaccio. Differisce però da questa soprattutto perché il racconto rappresenta una narrazione più riflessiva, in cui spesso è centrale l’analisi di ambienti, personaggi, situazioni, analisi breve, talvolta di una sola pagina. Il linguaggio è preciso e curato in descrizioni e riflessioni, sebbene essenziale, e l’assenza di una cornice narrativa specifica permette, sicuramente nel caso dei testi presenti in questo volume, un’ampia fantasia nell’accoppiamento con un’opera pittorica. Infatti Mecconi non si e limitato a scrivere “nuove novelle”, portando quindi una ventata di novità nel panorama letterario; ha fatto di più, ha associato a ognuna di esse alcune delle sue opere pittoriche in abbinamenti talvolta intuitivi, a volte più introspettivi.Forse è proprio questa la sfida rivolta al lettore: leggere il racconto e “sentire” il disegno abbinato. Apprezzare i motivi per cui risuona in una sorta di comunione con l’artista ma, meglio ancora, indagare dentro di noi quando il disegno ci sembra inappropriato, sebbene non sia mai respingente. O forse sì, per qualcuno un’immagine potrebbe risultare tale, perché l’Arte (perché di Arte si tratta) non arriva a tutti nello stesso modo. Ecco allora che una maschera che si apre su un volto può affascinare al limite della seduzione ma può anche spaventare e disturbare.
